** 불꽃 : Nilai International University College는(이하 Nilai로 줄임) 말레이시아 대학 중에서는 몇 안되는 캠퍼스를 가진 대학이자 이런 캠퍼스의 조경으로 인해 Best National Landscape Award를 말레이시아 정부로 부터 수상하기도 한 대학이다. 실질적으로 호수 주변의 조깅 트랙은 주변의 갖가지 열대식물 및 나무들과 어우려져 평화로운 분위기를 연출 하고 있다. 하지만, 도심인 KL에서 40분 정도 떨어져 있는 한적한 교외에 위치해 있고(공항과는 15분 거리) 학교의 시설이 전반적으로 낙후되어 있다. 이와 함께 캠퍼스내의 기숙사 시설이 문제이나 근래 기숙사를 새로이 정비 하면서 새로운 기숙사를 갖추고 있다. (이외 캠퍼스 밖의 기숙사 시설은 괜찮으며 자세한 사항은 동영상 참고 하면 된다.)

이외 단점으로는 물과 인터넷을 들 수 있다. 이런 단점에도 불구하고 Nilai의 최대 장점은 바로 안전성과 좋은 사람들이 있다는 것이다. 그리고, 공학, 경영학, 간호학, 항공학, 관광학에 있어서 매우 뛰어난 과정들을 갖추고 있으며, Nilai같이 작은 소규모 도시에는 사건 사고가 거의 없고, 현지에서 공부하는 학생들의 경우에도 몇 몇 다른 대학 처럼 안전 문제에 민감하지 않고 아예 신경도 쓰지 않는다.

어떤 면에서는 가장 좋은 팀으로 이루어진 Nilai의 Marketing 팀들은 학교 시설이나 다른 직원들로 부터 나오는 불만족을 상쇄하는 역활을 하며 끊임없이 학교 시설 보완을 경영진에게 요구 하고 있다. 이로 인해 기숙사의 작은 부분들이 보완 중이며, 새로운 기숙사 2동과 항공기 관리 과정의 공대 건물 신축을 위해 터를 닦고 준비를 하고 있다.

About Nilai International University College

Nilai는 50여개국에서 온 국제 학생들과 말레이시아내 학생들이 공부하고 있으며 현재 약 2,000명의 학생수를 보유한 말레이시아내 가장 큰 사립 교육 기관중의 하나이다. Putra Nilai라는 지역에 무려 105에어커(1 Acre는 약 4,046.8m²) 의 광대한 캠퍼스를 가지고 있으며 KL 국제공항과는 20분, 말레이시아의 수도인 KL(Kuala Lumpur)에서는 40분정도 떨어져 있는 대학이다.

** 불꽃 : 실제로 엄청난 캠퍼스를 보유 하고 있지만 이 캠퍼스 부지를 모두 활용하고 있지는 않다. 현재 항공정비과의 새로운 공대 건물과 기숙사 건물 2동의 신축을 위해 터를 닦고 준비 중에 있다.

Nilai는 스포츠 및 여가 시설, 캠퍼스내 기숙사를 비롯 최신의 강의실을 갖추고 있으며 학생들의 자기 개발과 학습에 집중 할 수 있는 환경을 제공한다. 1997년 말레이시아 교육부에서 3+0 학위 과정을 최초로 승인받은 대학의 하나로서 National Accreditation Board(LAN)의 허가 아래 영국 Oxford Brookes University 및 호주 La Trobe University와의 협정을 맺고 있다.

위 대학들은 해당 국가의 교육 평가에서 지속적으로 매우 높은 평가를 받고 있으며 이에 Nilai에서 배우는 학생들이 연계된 대학에서 배우는 것과 같은 교육 수준을 유지 할 수 있도록 노력하고 있다. 이를 통해 3+0 프로그램을 개설해게 되면서 Nilai 스스로의 Diploma를 개발하였고, 이 교육 과정의 수준은 현재 Nilai가 가지고 있는 영국, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 스위스, 캐나다의 대학들로 부터 국제적인 인증을 받고 있다.

** 불꽃 : Nilai의 연계 중 La Trobe University와의 협정은 2007년 12월 부로 만료 되며 마지막 학기가 2008년 01월에 있다.

Nilai는 국제 학생을 가르칠 수 있는 허가를 받은 초창기의 대학이며 현재 약 50여개국의 학생들이 전체 인원의 40%를 차지하고 있는 문화의 복합체이다. 이와 함께 뛰어난 교육수준의 제공에 대해 Malaysia External Trande Development Coporation, Ministry of Trand and Industry Malaysia로 부터 Industry Excellence를 수상 하기도 했다.

LEARNING FACILITIES

Lecture theatres

The college has four air-conditioned auditorium-sized lecture theatres; two 250-seater and two 150-seater halls, fully equipped with the latest teaching facilities.

Nilai는 4개의 대 강의실를 갖추고 있으며 이중 두 개는 250석, 나머지 두 개는

150석을 보유하고 있다. 해당 강의실은 프로젝터 및 강의에 필요한 시설들을

기본적으로 갖추고 있다.

Classrooms

We have over 30 classrooms and tutorial rooms with an average classroom lecturer to student ratio of 1:25 to ensure personal attention.

총 30개의 강의실 및 학습실이 있으며 1:25의 개인 지도가 가능한

교수 대 학생 비율을 가지고 있다.

Common study rooms

These are air-conditioned rooms equipped for you to do your coursework in between classes. You may use your laptop here as it is a Wi-Fi spot and is also equipped with electrical points.

Common Room이라고 불리는 공간은 말레이시아에서는 강의실 이외의

모임 장소나 숙제, 혹은 컴퓨터를 쓸 수 있는 장소이다. 해당 지역은 무선

인터넷이 가능하지만 Nilai에서는 한 곳 밖에 없으며 크기가 작아 학생들의

불만이 있는 장소 이기도 하다.

Library

Occupying the entire fifth floor of our Resource Centre, the 160m² library is perhaps the perfect place on-campus to get the best view of the lush green surrounding. It is a complete research and study facility with a wide selection of books, periodicals, journal publications and access to the best online resources. Internet access is also available.

Resource Center의 4층 전체를 쓰고 있는 Nilai의 도서관은 160m² 의

넓은 면적과 학교내 나무들의 푸른 경관이 잘 보이는 곳이다. 다른

학교와 같이 장서, 주간지, 저널, Online 자료 들을 모두 비치하고

있으며 "느린" 인터넷도 사용이 가능하다.

Computer laboratories

We have seven computer laboratories with 40 computers each, equipped with the latest technology and flat screen computers with Internet access.

각각 40여대의 컴퓨터를 보유한 7개의 컴퓨터실을 보유하고 있다.

Multimedia and Language laboratories

The multimedia and language labs are equipped with the latest language learning facilities along with other essential audio-visual equipment.

멀티미디어와 어학실 또한 각 종 기자재들을 보유 하고 있다.

Engineering laboratories

We have a dedicated building equipped with up to date equipment to facilitate practical work as well as providing a conducive environment for students to complete projects and assignments.

학생들의 과제와 프로젝트의 수행을 위한 환경 뿐만 아니라 실질적인 연습이

가능한 최신의 시설과 건물을 보유하고 있다. Nilai는 Engineering 과정에 학위

과정이 없고 Diploma 과정만 있지만 영국 내 명문 대학(Leeds, Nottingham,

Kingston, Dundee, Galsgow, Wales 등)들과의 협정을 보유 하고 있다.

Science laboratories

For students studying science-based courses, we have Chemistry and Physics laboratories furnished with the latest equipment which allow students to put theory-based learning into practice through experiments and research.

과학 관련 전공을 하는 학생들을 위해 연구 및 실습을 통한 이론의 학습과

적용이 가능한 기자재를 갖춘 화확 및 물리 연구실을 보유하고 있다. Nilai의

과학 관련 전공은 모두 Diploma이며 간호과와 임상 병리학이 매우 뛰어난 대학이다.

Nursing Skills laboratories

Our nursing laboratory is equipped with the latest nursing facilities to enable students to practise nursing care in simulated patient situations, similar to the environment in hospitals, clinics and health care centres.

현재 간호과를 운영하는 말레이시아 대학 중에서는 가장 크고 유명하다. 다른

몇개의 대학들은 4+0 학위를 제공하고 있기는 하지만 문제가 많아서 이번 출장에서

다시 한번 Nilai의 간호과 과정이 좋다는 것을 재 확인하고 왔다. 시설은 신생 대학에

비해 뒤 쳐지나 프로그램 자체로는 가장 크며, 정부로 부터 특정 인원수를 배정 받는 등

입학 부터가 어려운 과정이기도 하다.

Hospitality Building

The on-campus Hospitality Building is where students studying hospitality acquire hands-on training with state-of-the-art facilities that rival renowned hotels. We have the finest hospitality training facilities in the industry which includes Western, Asian, Cold, Pastry and Bakery kitchens, a 100-seater training restaurant, a bar and a 5-star mock hotel room and front office reception.

Nilai의 메인 프로그램중의 하나인 관광과는 시설 부분에 있어서 떨어지는

것이 사실이나 영국의 Oxford Brookes University(3+0, 영국 내 관광 34위), Leeds Metropolitan

University (영국 내 관광 22위) 스위스의 최고의 관광 명문인 Les Roches와 협정을 맺고 있다.

특히 Les Roches와의 협정시 요구한 프로그램 제안서에서 말레이시아 유명 관광 대학을 모두

제치고 선정된 학과이기도 하다. 시설 수준이 조금 모자라지만 관광대의 기본인 레스토랑,

호텔 실습실, 요리 실습실, 각종 기자재들을 모두 갖추고 있다.

LIVING FACILITIES

Food court

Food on campus is never a problem. Get your breakfasts, lunches right up to your midnight snacks at our 1,000-seat food court. A wholesome and affordable range of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western food are available here.

Nilai의 구내 식당들은 실내와 실외로 구분되는데 왼쪽 사진에서 보는 것은

실외 구내 식당이다. 해당 식당에는 약 10여개의 식당들이 자리 잡고 있으며

말레이시아, 중국, 인도, 태국, 서양 음식점들이 입점해 있다. 가격은 음식에

따라 다르나 대략 900원~2,000원 사이라고 보면 된다.

Starbaker café

A trendy and modern café which serves a variety of pastry, cakes, breads and sandwiches. It's a popular place to chill out after her long day of classes with a game of pool or foosball whilst enjoying some MTV.

실내 구내 식당이며 Nilai 내에서는 가장 좋은 시설을 갖추고 있는 곳이다.

음식 뿐만 아니라 빵, 케잌, 샌드위치와 같은 먹을 거리도 있으며 당구대도

설치되어 있다.

Bookshop

Get the text and revision books you need right here on-campus.

캠퍼스내에서는 작게 나마 교재를 파는 곳이 별도로 있으며,

이곳에서는 학교 관련 기념품이나 전화카드를 살 수 있다.

Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

Available right here at the campus for your convenience!

ATM은 RHB Bank에서 나온 것이며 현재로서는 출금만 가능 하다.

Nilai에서 공부하는 학생들은 해당 은행의 계좌 개설을 할 수 있다.

Convenience & gift shops

Need to get a greeting card or a gift? Just visit the on-campus gift shop which sells a variety of affordable gifts and stationery. You may also shop for your sundries at our convenience store.

해당 편의점에서는 간단한 기념품과 과자, 음료, 아이스크림 등을

구입 할 수 있다. 참고로 주인 아저씨는 참 좋은 분이다. ㅋㅋ

Shuttle bus service

Daily service timetable to key student destinations such as Komuter (train) station, Nilai Springs Golf and Country Club and the off-campus accommodation.

시간대에 맞추어 지정되어 있는 Nilai의 셔틀버스들은 캠퍼스 밖의 기숙사,

KL로 갈 수 있는 KTM 기차역, Nilai가 보유하고 있는 Nilai Springs로

학생들을 안내 하고 있다. 사진상의 버스는 최근 만들어진 것이다.

SPORTS & RECREATIONAL

Indoor sports complex (game courts and gym)

The President hall is a purpose-built sports complex that houses a fully-equipped gymnasium and indoor courts. The hall is also used for extra curricular activities such as dance, yoga, aerobic etc classes. Besides this, it serves as a venue for the college graduation ceremony and events such as Talent Nights, Dance and Drama competitions and many more.

President Hall이라고 불리는 대 강당은 2층에 체육관 시설을 갖추어 놓고

1층에는 각종 운동 시설들을 비치하고 있다. 이 다목적 강당은 요가, 에어로빅,

강의, 졸업식, 각종 대회의 경연장으로도 쓰인다.

Outdoor game courts

There are numerous outdoor courts for tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball etc spread over our 105-acre campus. There are also ample lawns for you to enjoy a game of Frisbee or any other sport you fancy. Street soccer and cricket are some of the latest additions to the list of game facilities available on campus.

캠퍼스 내에는 테니스, 배드민턴, 배구, 농구, 출구, 크리켓 등의 코트가 있다.

Lakeside jogging track

Nilai International is one of the few colleges with a lakeside jogging track. It's the perfect venue for a barbeque and games.
